The Office of Marketing Communications enhances and promotes the brand of Appalachian State University by producing strategic communications.
Communication Planning
Marketing Communications assists key units on campus in establishing effective and efficient communication plans. Major emphasis of the staff revolves around student recruitment, student enrollment, and general university marketing communications.
Publication Development
The Marketing Communications and University Communications staff coordinates print specifications, print bid submissions, graphic design, key marketing messages and thematic elements, publication proofing, photography, and print vendor relations. In addition, Marketing Communications coordinates the primary student recruitment materials for the Office of Admissions. Projects managed by Marketing Communications include the following:

- First Connections was chosen as a silver medalist by The University and College Design Association --Dec 2007
- First Connections has won the Grand Award for student recruitment publications from The Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III --Feb 2008
- First Connections received an Award of Merit from Admissions Marketing Report in the 23rd Annual Admissions Advertising Awards –Feb 2008
- First Connections was presented a Franklin Award for Excellence from Neographics Power of Print and Graphic Arts Association – May 2008
